I started Kept after losing a dear friend. I made a memorial page for her, and saw how much it meant to her friends to have one place to share what they remembered and grieve together. I hope Kept can bring you some of that comfort, too.
I'm a designer and software engineer in Jersey City, and I've been building for the web for more than twenty years. Kept is made at my independent studio, LateralTranslucence. Every page is designed and built by hand, and when you get in touch, you'll hear back from me.

Questions
Only people with the passphrase. You choose who gets it and can change it any time. Pages ask search engines not to list them.
The first year is included. After that, you can keep it up for $79 a year, or for good for $249 once. Either way, you can ask us for a free copy of every photo and memory, any time.
You don't need to be. Tell us the stories and send photos however is easiest, even prints in an envelope. We scan prints for $125 per 100 and mail them back. We build it.
Yes. You get your own admin area, where you can remove anything at any time. Removed things are hidden, so they can be put back, and we'll delete them for good if you ask.
Usually about six weeks after the service, once people have had time to share. You decide when to send it to print.
